Terrific book. Great story.
I read this book about four years ago - in paperback form. My impression of it has not changed. My advice to anyone reading it is to have a box of tissues at hand. I cried several times while reading it. While I understood completely how Hannah wanted to see the drunk driver who'd caused the death of two of her family punished, I had a little harder time with the way she ignored her remaining daughter. Of course, it's quite plausible that a person would react that way and it made for a remarkable story. I wish that every person - be they young or older - would read this book before deciding that it's okay to drink and drive. Although fictional (as far as characters, etc) what scares a person is that the situation could actually have happened. This book is highly recommended. If I assigned a grade for it , I'd have to give it an A+++

No greater loss.....
This story was riveting and I had to finish it once I started it. Hannah’s reactions were very real and believable. As a Christian and a mother, it is not difficult to imagine her reactions to the loss of her family and her happy life. Her loss of faith was also believable as we are all likely to have doubts from time to time when tragedy befalls us or one we love. Excellent weaving of God’s words in appropriate parts of the story. As believers, we have all heard that still small voice and we have the choice to listen or ignore.

Forgiveness!
What an awesome concept! This book has been both troubling and a blessing. Troubling in helping us to understand where we live: in a fallen world with lots of pain and suffering but a blessing in reminding us in whom we have believed: an awesome and faithful God! Great is thy faithfulness, oh God!

Keep the tissues handy
This book evokes a lot of emotions. I really felt for Brian because I understand the power of addiction. I got mad at Hannah, but truth be told it was most likely because I also had to learn what it meant to truly forgive. I know how much we need Jesus to help us with that. My heart broke for Jenny. Children takes things so personally, often taking on blame that is not theirs. Orphaned at a young age, I understood that longing for love . I well remember trying to take my own life. In the end neither addiction, suicidal attempts, nor our struggle to forgive can stop God's love . When we come to Him, He heals us and sets us free and will help us to forgive, though the choice to do so is ours. He is truly faithful! I highly recommend this author. She really does write life-changing fiction!

ANOTHER HEARTWARMING STORY!!!!
I haven't ever read a Karen Kingsbury book that didn't touch my heart and soul!! This book is no different!! The book opens with Hannah waiting for her husband and two daughters to return from a camping trip and she's getting worried!! Unfortunately, the police show up instead of the family and she has so much to deal with!!! Follow her in her pain and and anger and how she deals with it. You won't be sorry!!!! C:o)

Good introduction
The first in a trilogy, we meet Hannah. A woman who suffers one of the worst losses in life; her husband and daughter in a drunk driving accident. Although we, as Mothers, can sympathize with her pain, her need for vengeance, complete anger at God and, neglect of her surviving daughter (to the point of attempted suicide), is concerning.Thankfully, through the introduction of Matt, Hannah learns to let go of her anger, restores her faith in Christ, learns to forgive the drunk driver and, repair her relationship with her surviving daughter.I give Karen praise for attacking such a sensitive subject and offer my heart-felt sympathy to every parent and person who has lost a loved one to drunk driving.

Waiting for Morning
Excellent book. I found myself crying throughout while reading. I felt as if I was part of the story. Feeling so badly and empathizing with the main character. I had pity on the child that lived, because she felt so bad because she lived. I definitely could understand the anger throughout. The ending was spectacular .

This book was by far the most challenging to read to date. As I saw what was going to happen I wondered how I would have reacted and realised that I know how I would want to, but will not know if indeed I could. It would take every ounce of grace from God to honour Him in such a situation.

Forgiveness
I am a great fan of Karen Kingsbury. This book tells the story of a family devastated by a great tragedy. The main character finds it impossible to forgive which causes her even greater distress. It is only when she eventually forgives that she finds peace.
