sturdy and loud
Great whistles. Very sturdy. I like metal better than plastic and I like that these don't have peas or ball bearings. One other thing: while you can blow softly for a gentler sound, when you blow hard these are probably the loudest whistles I've ever whistled.

Perfect
Got these for a backpacking trip a week ago. Got it just for emergency purposes. Had it around my neck the whole way in and all the way out. I would blow the whistle when we would get into denser forestry to alert any animals that I didn't want to come across my path while I had a 52 pound pack on my shoulders. Solid construction.

Small. Light. LOUD! Over 130db
I'm discussing the NOOPEL 2-pack emergency whistles. They come with lanyards, letting me wear it around my neck and under my shirt. I got the brass-colored version.Bottom line, it's small and easy to carry (or wear around your neck) and quite loud -- does what it's intended to.I'll say again, the whistle is LOUD. Be careful when using it as it'll cause temporary deafness if you're not careful! Consider sticking fingers in your ears or using ear protection when trying it out.But a loud whistle is what you want, isn't it? You want to startle intruders or call for help or maybe scare wild animals away, and this whistle should do that.I have a Decibel meter and tried blowing the whistle, holding the meter about a foot (about 30cm) from the whistle. Note that I'm wearing sound protection and I'm doing this in a closed room. The meter registered 130.5db -- and since it can't measure sounds over 130db, it means the whistle is even louder than that.I'm happy with the purchase and recommend it to others.

Yep it's loud
It's loud. Thankfully my wife and daughter haven't needed it. They also protect themselves with other devices too.

I was considering a "Coast Guard Whistle"....
As a Hiking MB Counselor I carried a small plastic Coast Guard whistle. I was going to get one for wife to attached to key chain. The plastic ones are good however, it was going to be a bit bulky and grasp when needed. So I bought these to try out. They are slender and you can just attach to key chain (I recommend having it with the key fob). These are good the decibel output is good. You have a short chain that allows you to carry it with whistle in palm for immediate use....excellent! There is also a quality lanyard so you can carry around your neck. Wife showed to co-worker and she wanted one...hence, I placed another order. I believe they considered it a "bling" accessory...well...at least they'll have it ready for use if needed. Please remember that 3 short blasts of the whistle is a call for "help"!

Great on Dog Walks
I bring this along on dog walks. I had to use it once when a barking dog came at me and my dog. I yelled at the dog, then blew the whistle. Made the other dog back up (my pup didn't like it either). I yelled at the dog to go home, and I figure it didn't want to hear the whistle again because it left!I have worked in Emergency Services for many years and I know blowing a whistle in an emergency is much better than yelling for help. I always have a whistle with me, usually a Fox 40, but this whistle is just as loud and easier to carry.

emergency tool
I bought the whistle for an emergency situation, small enough to carry on your pocket, durable and loud.

They are loud and not bulky.
I bought these for safety when working outdoors on conservation land. Unlike a football coach-style whistle these are flat and hang under my shirt without being in the way. I don't even notice I'm wearing it. It's good insurance in case of a fall or injury. I gave one to a co-worker who told me he wished he'd had it a few months earlier when his girlfriend fell on a hike and broke her ankle. He was able to call for help on his cell phone, but the whistle would have helped the rescue crew find them more easily on the trail.
