Formerly, Diamond matches would strike almost anywhere. For example, by bending your knee to tighten your jeans at the thigh, the matches would strike there--BUT not these. With these, you cannot strike with your thumb nail. They also would NOT strike on smooth concrete, only rough concrete. Would NOT strike on a piece of lumber. Did strike on the head of an unpainted sledge hammer.Additionally, about a third of the matches broke when attempting to strike them--usually about 3/8" below the head.They are better than the "strike on box only" matches though.

The amazon add shows a box of Extra Thick matches. This is what I ordered. What I received are the very skinny matches that break very easily. The amazon add shows matches made in the USA. The matches I received are not made in the USA. These are not worth the trouble to return, so I will just keep them, even though they are more expensive than I can buy them for locally. I would still like to find some of the Extra Thick Strike Anywhere Matches.

Strike anywhere, not a true statement but damn near close!I do a lot of camping and everything I have that is a rough surface they will light.I will buy more and recommend.

These were barely strike anywhere matches the sticks are small and thin I would not recommend this product but it is all that can be procured in this country at this time.

Just what I was looking for as you cannot buy these in a store here in Boston area. You know where the world champion Patriots and Red Soc are! :)Bought them for everyday use and to make waterproof matches.They were easy to ignite on a hard surface like a nail head, wood boarding, etc!!Seller shipped quickly and will buy again from them.

I've tried striking on a bunch of things including a rock to no avail. The only thing it worked on was my boyfriend's jeans zipper! Plus the ends break off easily. What a waste. Wish I could give NO stars.

These matches will light anywhere just as long as you strike them on the box. Nothing like the true strike anywhere matches of yesteryear.

Incredible technology - literally holding fire in the palm of your hand. But seriously, these are just solid kitchen matches.
